I don’t normally wade into the muck that is stirred up in the internets, but I’ll have to make an exception in the case of the 12-year-old boy who delivered the Democratic response to Bush’s recent veto of SCHIP, the state children’s health insurance program. 

It seems that the right-wing nut-o-sphere has whipped itself into a frothy frenzy over this boy and his family, making all sorts of fabricated claims that the family lives in a mansion and the children attend expensive private schools paid by government handouts while receiving even more help from the SCHIP program for medical care for this child.  The only part that the wingnuts got right was that this family was actually enrolled in SCHIP. 

With all the noise we’ve heard lately from Rush Limbo and the “phony soldiers” who speak out against the war and the manufactured outrage over MoveOn.org’s General Petraeus ad, you’d think the conservatives were trying to intimidate people from speaking out against policies they support. 

But, they wouldn’t do that. 

Would they?
